How to take part
What is the purpose of the Virtual Alzheimer's Research Study?
The Virtual Alzheimer’sResearch Study is a fictional study designed to demonstrate the effectiveness of using CANTAB patient recruitment software to enrich clinical research programmes. The study aims to assess the effects of an investigational drug on day-to-day living for people with mild Alzheimer’s disease.
What does the study involve?
Study participation will last for approximately three years and those interested in taking part will be asked to attend a screening visit to make sure they are eligible to participate. Participants will receive either the investigational drug or a placebo (a substance that looks identical to the study drug but without the active ingredients).
What is Alzheimer's disease?

Alzheimer's disease is the most common type of dementia. Alzheimer's disease is a progressive condition, which means the symptoms develop gradually and become more severe over the course of several years.
The first sign of Alzheimer's disease is usually minor memory problems. A certain degree of forgetfulness can be part of the normal aging process. Memory loss can also happen at any age and doesn't necessarily mean that you or someone you know has a medical problem.
However, significant memory loss could be a sign of early Alzheimer’s disease - known as prodromal Alzheimer's disease. If you have concerns you should consult your doctor at the earliest possibility.
